The Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) can be regarded the leading national economic think tank in Vietnam. It operates under the direct authority of the Ministry of Planning and Investment and makes recommendations on economic laws and regulations, policies, planning and management mechanisms, business environment and economic renovation. FES supports CIEM in its research since 1992. The jointly published FES-CIEM “Working Papers” are widely recognized by Vietnamese scholars and practitioners.

The ruling Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) cooperates with FES for broad and international political dialogue. In order to strengthen the renovation process (doi moi) and to foster the exchange of experiences and ideas, FES invites various international experts to Vietnam, ranging from high-ranking politicians and ministerial officials to senior professionals. |

Bộ Lao động, thương binh và xã hội (MOLISA) |

The cooperation between the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and FES started in 1992. It focuses on issues of social policy, social security and labor law development. Issues under discussion most recently include Vietnam´s labor law, Vietnam´s evolving labor market, pension schemes as well as MOLISA´s efforts of assessing effects of Vietnam´s WTO-accession on the economy and the labor market in particular.

FES-collaboration with the National Assembly of Vietnam commenced in the year 2000. This partnership aims at strengthening the relevance and strength of this constitutionally most superior house in general and its scientific support services as well as committee work in particular. Various joint studies have been conducted in preparation for parliamentary debates and workshops were organized jointly with both national and international participation. |

National Political and Administrative Academy Ho Chi Minh (NPAA) |

The National Political and Administrative Academy Ho Chi Minh (NPAA) is one of the country’s leading research and teaching institutions. With its network of political schools on the national and provincial level, almost every public or political official undergoes training at the NPAA. The NPAA-FES partnership started in1995. During the first phase of cooperation, projects concentrated on socially and economically balanced city development. Further cooperations focused on issues such as the basic values of democracy, democratic socialism and the representation of social group’s interests. Currently, FES coopeates with the Academy on issues of curricula development, quality management and participatory teaching methods. Still, one NPAA research group continues to be supported working on concepts of Social Democracy. |
